The Ísalp topos

The Ísalp topos have been issued in the Ísalp journals since 1978. In many cases they are the first attempt at making a topo for the area or the area has developed a lot after the issuing of it. For the topos including climbing routes, make sure you compare it to the route database, it should have the most current information available.

Name  Author and the year of issue   About the topo
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 1 – Eyjafjallajökull  Helgi Benediktsson, 1978  This topo is only about hiking routes, that are still in it’s place and in full use. The main difference since the topo was made is that Gígjökul has retreated a lot and is really steep and olmost gone now.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 2 – Hekla og Langjökull  Helgi Benediktsson, Sighvatur Blöndahl, Yngvar Teitsson & Guðjón Ó. Magnússon, 1979  Hiking topo, hiking routes are still in it’s place and haven’t changed a lot. Traffic on Langjökull has increased considerably and more routes to cross the glacier are known.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 3 – Snæfellsjökull  Magnús Guðmundsson, Helgi Benediktsson, Arnór Guðbjartsson & Ingvar Teitsson, 1979  Hiking topo, still relative since the routes are the same.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 4 – Tindfjallajökull, fyrri hluti  Ingvar Teitsson, Rúnar Nordquist, Guðjón Halldórsson og Magnús Hallgrímsson, 1979  Hiking topo around Tindfjöll area, along with descriptions on the main huts in the area.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 5 – Tindfjallajökull, seinni hluti  Ingvar Teitsson, Rúnar Nordquist, Guðjón Halldórsson & Magnús Hallgrímsson, 1979  More hiking routes in Tindfjöll along with some climbing routes, SW ridge of Hornklofi and routes to Tindur. Probably not many new routes since the issue. See also Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 16.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 6 – Botnssúlur, fyrri hluti  Guðjón Ó. Magnússon, 1979  This topo is the first half of mountaineering in Botnsúlur. This half focuses on hiking. The topo has most known hiking routes.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 7 – Botnssúlur, seinni hluti  Guðjón Ó. Magnússon, 1979  This topo is the second half for mountaineering in Botnsúlur. In it are all known routes except Morgunfýla.

Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 9 – Skarðsheiði  Helgi Benediktsson & Sighvatur Blöndahl, 1980  Hiking routes in Skarðsheiði, everything here is also in Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr 22.
Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 10 – Vífilsfell  Magnús Guðmundsson & Snævarr Guðmundsson, 1980  Hiking and climbing topo for Vífilsfell. There hasn’t been much climbing in Vífilsfell for the last years so this topo probably has all known routes

Leiðarvísir Ísalp nr. 14 – Þumall  Torfi Hjaltason, 1981  Classic route to Þumall. This topo is missing a lesser known route to Þumall. The other route lies south of the big flake and merges with the classic route in pitch four.
