Jackson, Wyoming‹March 9, 2005‹Alpinist Magazine announced today that it has received Print Magazine¹s 2004 Regional Design Award for the cover of Alpinist 6. Print Magazine¹s five editors, two art directors, and six regional writers selected the recipients for the annual award, who were chosen from a field of more than 20,000 entries from across the country. The award, presented for Issue 6, was designed by Niki Celine and features a climber on a spectacular snow ridge on Mount Hunter in Alaska. For more information on the award visit http://www.printmag.com <http://www.printmag.com/> .

In April 2004, Alpinist received the Maggie Award from the Western Publication Association (WPA) in the Quarterlies/Consumer category for its winter issue (Issue 5). The March 2005 issue of Outside Magazine featured Alpinist as the subject of a seven-page article called ³The Purists.² In December 2004 Reinhold Messner called Alpinist ³the best climbing magazine in the world today.² ³The Print Magazine award is a welcome nod,² says Alpinist Publisher Marc Ewing. ³It¹s quite nice to be receiving so much attention after less than two and a half years of publication. And we¹re only a quarterly!²
