The Westfjords are divided into: Bar\u00f0astr\u00f6nd<\/a>, Arnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/strong>,\u00a0D\u00fdrafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/a>, \u00cdsafjar\u00f0ardj\u00fap<\/a> and\u00a0 Hornstrandir<\/a><\/p>\n

A very accessible guidebook has been made for the area and all the information here com from there. The guidebook was first printed in\u00a0\u00cdSALPs annual magazine 2015<\/a> and a PDF versoin can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ice climbing routes in Arnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are of all shapes and sizes, from WI 2 up to WI 6 and from 20m up to 400m. The mountaintops are in 500-600m altitude so there are some potentials for even longer routes.<\/p>\n

Most of the registered routes was climbed in the Ice climbing festival in 2009 and 2015 but in between there was a foreign team that did quite a few first accents (Kitty Calhoun\/Jay Smith and co 2014).<\/p>\n

Most of the obvious lines in sectors B, C and D have been climbed. Sectors A and E-I have barely been touched even though one line here and there has been climbed.<\/p>\n
